Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

I don’t know about you guys but in my opinion, the watch order of Tokyo Revengers is extremely important, and it’s quite easy. Allow me to talk a little bit about the series as I think you must be a beginner.

Table of Contents

Tokyo Revengers is a manga series created, rather masterfully by Ken Wakui. The story follows a guy called Takemichi Hanagaki, a 26-year-old guy with a miserable life, who learns that his ex-girlfriend, Hinata Tachibana, has been murdered by a gang of underground criminals – the Tokyo Manji Gang. The next day, while returning from a part-time job, Takemichi is pushed off the subway platform by a stranger. As he is about to be hit, he jumps twelve years back in time, to the year he was dating Hinata. Finding that out, he decides to do everything to prevent her death.

In what order should you watch Tokyo Revengers?

Ok so, even though Tokyo Revengers has a lot of time traveling, still by far the best order to watch it is in release date order.

With that being said, I’m excited to give you a brief intro of Tokyo Revengers in the proper release order:

  1. Tokyo Revengers, Season 1 (2021): This is where all the craziness starts. In the first season, we watch as the show introduces its characters to us. The first one is Takemitchi Hanagi. With 24 episodes, the first season of Tokyo Revengers sets the stage for complex stuff to happen. It’s a must-watch to prevent confusion later on.
  2. Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown Arc, Season 2 (2022): In this season the characters that have been introduced evolve and develop. The most gripping stuff happens here.
  3. Season 3: Tenjiku Arc (2023 – ongoing): The latest season, still ongoing, explores the characters’ pasts and their reason as to why they did certain things.

For me personally, watching Tokyo Revengers in order was a mindblowing and beautiful journey into the mind of Ken Wakui. I loved every episode, which happens rarely to me.

I have to note that Tokyo Revengers also has special episodes and OVAs that make the storyline better. These additional pieces of context are not necessary for the main plot, but because they dive into the characters’ backstories and motives, they can help you understand everything better.
